The American University Student Government and the AU Antiracist Research & Policy Center announced Thursday night that there will be a rally on campus at 4pm on Friday, September 29 on the steps of the Mary Graydon Center.

On Friday, September 29, 2017, the American University Student Government will hold a rally for courage against terror in collaboration with the American University Antiracist Research & Policy Center.

This rally will address the current campus climate, the valid fears and safety concerns felt across the AU community and follow up on the list of “Actions and Expectations” distributed by AUSG on Thursday morning.

“Enough Is Enough: Rally for Courage Against Terror” is a call to action for students, faculty and staff, and will be held at 4 p.m. on the front steps of the Mary Graydon Center.

AUSG, the Antiracist Research & Policy Center and University leadership will emphasize the need for self-care, community support and the necessity of , rejecting hate in all forms on our campus.

Our campus will not be deterred from continuing to make positive change to the student experience at AU, from academics to campus life and beyond.

The instances of hate, bigotry and prejudice that have stricken our campus over the years have been intended to divide us. Instead, we will use these cowardly acts to unite our student body and our campus community.

Acts of terror that we have seen on our campus are not anomalies.

Communities across the nation continue to face violence, both in words and deeds, at the hands of those who “fear the other” and seek to divide, like white supremacists and neo-Nazis.

At American University, we reject this goal and will actively work against the motives of those who perpetrate racism, anti-semitism and all forms of hate.
