Women’s Initiative

Women's Initiative (WI) is an inclusive, non-partisan, Student Government-run organization that helps coordinate and advise campus departments and committees on programming and policy decisions that affect the women students, faculty, and staff of American University. Originally founded to encourage the Administration to create a Women's Resource Center, WI now provides oversight of campus safety and health resources by acting as an advocate for student concerns. WI also develops diverse programming that addresses a wide range of issues of particular interest to women, both independently and in collaboration with other student groups, academic departments, student services, and off-campus organizations.

Join us for the Virtual Women's Center Launch!

Please join us at a reception on Friday, Jan. 18th from 2 -3 in MGC 200 for the newly created web site for the Virtual Women's Center. The exciting part about the web site is the sexual assault resource site. Laura Kovach from the Wellness Center was instrumental in developing the sexual assault resources and I'm grateful for her work in getting this important project completed. This website is hopefully only the first step toward a real Women's Resource Center here at AU! Check it out at http://www.american.edu/ocl/womenscenter/index.html.
