Associate Vice President

The Associate Vice President serves as the Vice President's chief of staff, as well as oversees the school and class councils. The Associate Vice President will be in charge of coordinating the monthly programming breakfasts where student groups and administration will come together to collaborate on future programming. In addition, the Associate Vice President will collaborate with campus partners and/or student organizations across campus in order to focus on issues including, but not limited to, mental health, sexual assault prevention, and diversity and inclusion on campus. The position entails working closely with the Vice President, student organizations, and university administrators. The Associate Vice President reports directly to the Vice President.

 

Director of the Kennedy Political Union

KPU is the non-partisan, student-run speaker's bureau on campus. This person oversees the operations of KPU. The director has his or her own staff, which he or she is responsible for choosing. The position entails working closely with the Vice President as well as university administrators. The KPU Director reports directly to the Vice President.

 

Director of the Student Union Board

SUB is the student-run concert and entertainment bureau on campus. This person oversees the operations of SUB. The director has his or her own staff, which he or she is responsible for choosing. The position entails working closely with the Vice President as well as university administrators. The SUB Director reports directly to the Vice President.

 

Director of Founder’s Week

Founder's Week is the annual celebration of American University's founding, and this culminates with Founder's Day. This event is attended by more than 1,000 AU students. The Director of Founder's Day is in charge of planning Founder's Week and Founder's Day. The director has his or her own Deputy Director of Founder's Week, which he or she is responsible for choosing. The position entails working closely with the Vice President as well as university administrators. The Director of Founder's Day reports directly to the Vice President.

 

Director of Women’s Initiative

Women’s Initiative is an inclusive, non-partisan, student-run organization that helps coordinate and advise campus departments and committees on programming and policy decisions that affect the women students, faculty, and staff of American University. WI also develops diverse programming that addresses a wide range of issues of particular interest to women, both independently and in collaboration with other student groups, academic departments, student services, and off-campus organizations. The Director reports to the Vice President on policies including but not limited to women’s health, women’s empowerment, and sexual assault and harassment awareness. The Director will also develop and execute programming that addresses and increases awareness of issues of particular concern to women. The position entails working closely with the Vice President as well as university administrators. The Director of Women’s Initiative reports directly to the Vice President.

 

Chair of Community Service Coalition

This Chair will coordinate and oversee the coalition currently representing 36 clubs and organizations on campus. The scope of service activities includes but is not limited to Greek philanthropy, LGBTQIA+, environmental, education, and international, community-based service.
