American University

  • AU Public Safety: 202-885-3636
  • Sexual Assault Information Line: 202-885-2000
  • Counseling & Psychological Services: 202-885-3500
Students can arrange to see a counselor on an emergency basis during weekday business hours by calling x3500. (Emergency appointments are available the same day, while non-emergency appointments are generally available within a few days to a week.)

After hours, a Counseling Center counselor can be paged for an emergency consultation by contacting AU Public Safety or a member of the Residential Life and Housing Services staff. When a crisis occurs that affects the community or a group of community members, Counseling Center counselors will facilitate crisis-response meetings and consult with students, families, faculty, and staff.
