Yasaman Hakami (pronouns: she/her/hers) is a Freshman majoring in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies. She is from The Silicon Valley/ San Francisco Bay Area in California. Yasaman serves as the Campus-at-Large Senator along with being Vice-Chairwoman of the Special Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Yasaman has lead the movement to offer Halal on campus for Muslim students to access, increase faculty members of color, and add more world studies courses and languages. She is also leading a movement to add an AVID program for first generation students, and emplace a scholarship fund for refugee students attending AU. Additionally, Yasaman is a member of the committee on accessibility, transparency and accountability. Yasaman is passionate about intersectional feminism, middle eastern rights/history, social justice advocacy, and progressive politics. Outside of AUSG, Yasaman is a barista at Dolcezza Gelato and former Director of Diversity and Inclusion at AU Dems. You can contact to Sen.
