The AU Student Leadership Fund is designed to support students in their extracurricular and on-campus leadership endeavors by awarding funds to a select group of students. The goal is to ensure that students are able to be active on campus and involved in improving the AU community, regardless of their socioeconomic status. Students who are more involved at AU are more personally invested in AU which is better for the community overall. There are many students who are unable to be as involved as they would like given that they have to work other paying jobs to support themselves during their time at AU. Students who are more involved on campus feel a greater sense of connection to the institution. This is a community-based solution aimed at eliminating a financial barrier to student involvement at AU. Additionally, this is also a financial investment in student leadership that allows for the AU community to foster various types of leadership by providing low-income students the means to take on leadership roles.
