Positions available:

Chief of Staff

Differing from previous years, the Chief of Staff will be primarily responsible for working directly with the President solely on policy work. The Chief of Staff will be doing work to keep the President’s policy initiatives on track, such as monitoring relationships with key administrators and other university stakeholders, actively working with the Senate and attending Senate meetings, and building working relationships with student groups on campus. The Chief of Staff would also be coordinating with the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Director of Financial Aid and Affordability, the Director of Student Experience Enrichment, and the Director of Academic Access and Support. The Chief of Staff reports directly to the President.

Time commitment: 15-20 hours/week

Chief of Operations

The Chief of Operations will be primarily in charge of day-to-day Presidential operations and internal affairs. The Chief of Operations will have responsibilities like managing the President’s calendar and meetings, maximizing the use of the President’s time, keeping students connected to the President, and running the day-to-day operations of the office. The Chief of Operations reports directly to the President. 

Time commitment: 12-15 hours/week

Director of the Center of Advocacy and Student Equity 

The CASE Director is the Executive Director of the Center of Advocacy and Student Equity. The CASE Director is in charge of managing a team of student advocates that assist students in navigating the conduct code. In addition to conduct code violations, CASE also provides assistance with financial aid appeals, Title IX cases, requesting accommodations, and more. The CASE Director will also be in charge of spearheading advocacy initiatives having to do with student rights. The CASE Director reports directly to the President. 

Time commitment: 15-20 hours/week

Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will be working with campus cultural and affinity groups to develop programming and spearhead initiatives to make for a more inclusive community at AU that all students feel comfortable being a part of. The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion would be building relationships and elevating the voices of student groups through the platform that AUSG has. The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will hold roaming office hours in order to be accessible to students. The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion also serves on the Student Advisory Council for the President’s Council on Diversity and Inclusion. The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion reports directly to the President.

Time commitment: 10-12 hours/week

Director of Financial Aid and Affordability

The Director of Financial Aid and Affordability will be working to develop programming and spearhead initiatives regarding all aspects of affordability at AU. The Director of Financial Aid and Affordability will be communicating with the AU Financial Aid Office and any other university parties related to advocacy regarding the issues student face with the cost of AU. The Director of Financial Aid and Affordability will report directly to the President.

Time commitment: 5-10 hours/week

Director of Student Experience Enrichment

The Director of Student Experience Enrichment will be working to develop programming and spearhead initiatives that have to do with the quality of the AU student experience. The Director of Student Experience Enrichment would be primarily doing work on the issues of student housing and dining, but any aspect of the student experience that is not covered by other directors could fall under the jurisdiction of the Director of Student Experience Enrichment. The Director would be responsible for communicating and building a mutually beneficial relationship with the Residence Hall Association. The Director of Student Experience Enrichment would report directly to the President.

Time commitment: 5-10 hours/week

Director of the Community Service Coalition

The Director of the AUSG Community Service Coalition will be in charge of a group of students working with various D.C. based service organizations to bring community service events on campus for AU students to participate in. The Director of the AUSG Community Service Coalition typically has a small fund that they are able to utilize at their discretion. The Director of the Community Service Coalition reports directly to the President.

Time commitment: 5-10 hours/week

Director of Executive Board Accountability

The Director of Accountability will be serving as a means of holding the AUSG Executive Board accountable to students as well as their platforms. The Director of Accountability will sit in on and have the ability to speak during weekly Executive Board meetings and organize monthly listening sessions and town halls for the President. The Director of Accountability will report directly to the President.
