Mulan Burgess (pronouns: he/him/his) is a freshman majoring in Political Science and History. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Mulan serves as a Senator for the Class of 2021 in addition to serving as Vice Chairman of the Special Committee on Finance, along with various other Senate committees. Mulan first became interested in government when he represented members of his neighborhood as one of the youngest in New York City’s history to be appointed to serve a 2-year term on his community board. He was able to examine how being a part of a larger purpose serves the greater community as a whole. While in the Senate, Mulan has lead the charge to make AU Student Government a transparent environment. Additionally, he is also leading the movement to provide more academic and campus life access to students of color. As a Senator, Mulan sits on the Special Committee on Finance, Committee on Campus & Student Life, Committee on Health Services, and Committee on Environmental Sustainability. On campus, Mulan is involved with AU College Democrats and the Pre-Law Society. Also, in his spare time, Mulan loves working at a middle school in the Capitol Hill District area being a mentor to students. You can contact Sen. Burgess at or during his office hours on Fridays from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in MGC 268.
