The School Councils offer students unique opportunities to plan and execute programming, events, and community-building initiatives in partnership with AUSG Programming Boards and other campus organizations for their specific schools. The councils offer a unique opportunity to build and lead a team of students to put on budgeted events and tackle campus advocacy issues and are a vessel to build communication and planning skills and give back to the campus community.
The Undergraduate Council's purpose is to serve and assist CAS students in reaching their full potential. Through providing informational resources, school and community-sponsored opportunities and events that build and promote CAS's diverse community. The Council is there to advocate for CAS students to ensure every voice is heard and every passion is recognized.
The SIS Undergraduate Council aims to advocate for and serve each and every undergraduate student within the School of International Service. It is responsible for communicating SIS student issues to the SIS administration and AUSG, promoting the well-being of SIS organizations, and hosting events for SIS community bonding. The SIS UGC includes working groups that focus on specific advocacy and programming, including for students of color, transfer, international, first-generation, and first-year students. The SIS UGC seeks to amplify our students’ voices and maintain a strong, welcoming community that empowers its student body to contribute and prosper.
The School of Communication Undergraduate Council's purpose is to serve and assist SOC students in reaching their full potential. Through networking opportunities, hosting events, and highlighting the diversity among AU alumni and current SOC students, the council will bridge the gap between the student body and the administration. The Undergraduate Council will foster a sense of community and help SOC students to advocate for themselves and throughout the world.
The Undergraduate Council's purpose is to serve and assist SPA students in reaching their full potential. Through providing informational resources, assistance with internships, and great leadership opportunities, the School of Public Affairs Undergraduate Council advocates for students' wants and needs. The Undergraduate Council is developing a political review magazine, a newsletter, and internship development workshops to give SPA students advantages when it comes to changing the world.
The School of Education Undergraduate Council is a student-run space to build community within the School of Education, to plan relevant events that engage and benefit SOE students professionally, socially, and mentally, to promote the School of Education to the American University student body, and connect SOE students to school administration and faculty to advocate for our interests.
